5 EV Charging Technologies

Dynamic Load Management (DLM)

DLM is best for locations with multiple charging stations and a limited power supply. It avoids expensive power capacity upgrades while distributing the available power dynamically and efficiently. Automatic algorithms, associated with the control software, keep track of the the available power, number of vehicles to charge, and the charging capability of EV. Charging priorities are calculated on the deductions provided by the system.

OCPP 2.0

OCPP or Open Charge Point Protocol is the communication protocol that exists between the charging stations and the central management system. Best used for charging stations that are part of a network and widespread. Different from its previous versions of 1.6 and 1.5, OCPP 2.0 comes with upgraded features such as,

  • Supporting the ISO/IEC 15118 v2g communication protocol

ISO 15118

Formally known as “Road Vehicles – Vehicle to Grid Communication Interface,” ISO 15118 is an international standard communication protocol. It defines the communication standard between the charging station and the electric vehicle. ISO 15118 ensures the ability for i-directional charging and connectivity between vehicle and grid.

Roaming 4.0

Roaming 4.0 enables the interoperability between the various charging stations around the region despite the borders, state, or vendors. It ensures that the electric vehicle user can access any charging station on the road even if they are not registered for their services.

Ultrafast Charging

The new trends in the EV market denote that drivers prefer a fast recharge on the move. The present Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are getting upgraded as a result of various research and development from the automotive industry. Companies now offer up to 350kW capacity charging stations which can give about 240 miles of range with 15 mins of charging.
